Alonso, Costa and Matic brings Chelsea one win away from sealing Premier League crown
Conte’s men shows they are not feeling the pressure at all as Chelsea thrashed sorry Middlesbrough 3-0 with an exceptional performance.
Chelsea started convincingly as early as the 2nd minute of the game when Fabregas picks up Marcos Alonso who was free on the edge of box. The left back volleys the ball first time across the goal but the shot was deflected into the crossbar by Boro’s keeper Brad Guzan.
Fabregas performance on the night was deem to be world class as he picks up his teammates with great passes whenever he wants to. Hopefully, we get to see more of the old Fabregas that he is known for.
Finishing on the other side is not clinical enough as Fabregas side foot the ball wide of the goal after brilliant set up by Eden Hazard on the 17th minute.
2 minutes later, Hazard got into the wide position and puts in a wonderful low cross through the legs of Fabio. The outstretched Guzan couldn’t tip the ball and is rolling towards Diego Costa who could not make contact with the ball to put it into the empty net.
The Chelsea striker claimed to be fouled during the effort but was dismissed by the referee.
Chelsea looks to be in total control and the crowd can sense the goal coming and it does come on the 22nd minute. Fabregas lobs a ball in behind the Boro’s defense to Diego Costa who calmly controls the ball before slotting the ball through the keeper’s legs to put Chelsea 1-0 up.
11 minutes later, Azpilicueta finds Alonso in the box with a diagonal ball which are very similar to the previous chance he had earlier in the game but this time the angle are tighter to score.
The spaniard stretched for the ball and aim towards the near post. Unlucky for Guzan as the ball went through his leg yet again and deflected into the back of the net to bring Chelsea 2-0 up.
Right after the restart, Fabregas puts a delightful lob through ball out wide to Moses who is clean through and his attempt was blocked by Guzan. At this moment, Chelsea does not wants to settle for just two goals.
The Blues started the second half from they left off as Pedro’s powerful shot hit off the crossbar in barely less than a minute after the restart.
Every Chelsea players wants to be involved in the game as the Blue’s rightback, Azpilicueta wants to get in abit of action with a long range shot that went just wide over the bar.
Middlesbrough does not seems to learn a lesson as Alonso gets into the left side of the penalty box yet again as he puts a low hard shot across the goal. He miss hit the shot as the ball went wide of the target but was very close to the stretching leg of Diego Costa.
Soon after, Hazard cuts the ball back to Fabregas who was not being marked, tried a volley attempt that deflected off a Boro player and went just wide of the side post.
25 minutes from time, Chelsea put the match to bed after Matic control a lob pass in the box with his chest and shoots the ball through Guzan’s leg with his weaker foot. All three Chelsea goals scored went through the Boro keeper’s legs. How unlucky, just like they are going to be relegated after just one season back in top flight football.
Conte, the Chelsea manager celebrated every goal with his usual antics but this time, his wife and daughter were in the stand supporting the manager and his team. It’s always great to have your family’s support.
Chelsea look to put more pass the unlucky Guzan, as Pedro’s left foot shot went way over the bar to save Middlesbrough from more blushes.
Moses as well trying to get into the scoresheet but his low shot went straight into Guzan but this time the ball did not manage to went through the keeper’s leg but was saved. Another goal through Guzan’s leg will add more miserable to the keeper’s already destroyed mental.
Chelsea are now 90 minutes away from winning their 5th Premier League title when they face West Brom in their next match with 3 matches left to play and are 7 points away from second place Tottenham who lost the chance to close the gap on the leaders after lost to West Ham last Friday.
