Convincing City, Same Old Arsenal.
Manchester City are unbeaten in the Premier League this season, and Wenger believes before the game that Arsenal could be the team to end the Citizens streak.
He must be kidding himself after Arsenal’s performance yesterday.
The Blues of Manchester were in fine form in all competitions this season.
Their free flowing passing football AKA Tiki Taka has put alot of teams to the sword this season.
And they brush aside any hope of Arsenal climbing up the table and top four are in danger again.
Before the match begins, Sergio Aguero was presented an award for becoming City’s record all time goalscorer in mid-week.
The record goalscorer also wore a special golden PUMA boots to mark his achievement.
It takes only 90 seconds from the kick off, and Aguero almost instantly nearly add another goal to his record but he misses the target with a great opportunity.
City attack were ferocious against Arsenal defense and looks like scoring everytime they attacks.
Their passing were so smooth and have plenty of chances from wide areas of the field but the crosses in are very poor especially from Sterling that really frustrates Guardiola from the touchline.
City’s winger, Sane and Sterling was terrorizing Arsenal’s wing back the entire game.
Both the wingers were played behind the defenders so many times and all they need to do is just delivers a cross into the penalty area for a simple tap in goal.
They have few opportunity like that in the early game and Sterling could have gave City the lead after Sane cross in from the left but the England international could not reach the low cross.
It’s just a matter of time before City find a way through and golden boy, Kevin De Bruyne delivers a golden goal on the 20th minute.
He launch a low drive from just outside of the box with left foot which went across Petr Cech bottom left corner.
The Arsenal goalkeeper could have done better than that but take nothing away from the Belgian attacker as it was a great effort.
1-0 and it was just a case of how many more City will score based on the way they are playing at that moment.
Sterling could have make up for his miss earlier in the game after finding himself free on the right flank during a counter attack.
Only one defender stands between him and Sane who is waiting at the other side of the box.
But the ex-Liverpool man over hit the pass horribly wrong that really angers Pep Guardiola at the bench.
That could have easily been 2-0 before the break and Arsenal are very lucky going into the break with just a goal down.
The second half started just the same as the first and Sterling again find his way behind Arsenal defenders.
On the 50th minute, he was tripped by Monreal and City was rewarded a penalty and crushes Arsenal’s hope trying to get one goal back in the second half.
Aguero steps up to take the penalty.
He scores but after changing the boot at half time. He changed to a black boot after wearing the special golden boot in the first half.
The Argentinian confidently steps up and sends Cech the wrong way scoring off the inside of the bottom left post.
179 goals and counting for the record goalscorer.
Although the second half was fairly matched between the both sides, it was just City trying to counter attack Arsenal after 2 goals up while the Gunners trying to pull one goal back.
Arsenal are just playing right into the hands of Guardiola genius tactics and looks dangerous during the counter attacks.
Alexis Sanchez was backed by Wenger to prove his worth and was selected ahead of Lacazette as the lone striker up front.
The Chilean spends most of the game frustrated after failing to create any chances for the team. Just poor by a player who deems not fit to correct attitude to play for the team after looking to leave to City last summer.
While City are looking to break on counters most of the second half, Wenger sees the opportunity to introduce Lacazette in the one hour mark replacing Coquelin.
Immediate impact, as the Frenchman was put through by Ramsey on the right flank before shooting the ball low past Ederson legs and pull one back for his team.
2-1 and game on!
Aguero was replaced by Gabriel Jesus before Lacazette goal and restore City’s lead with a very controversial goal.
Silva was put through out of nowhere and was standing in an obvious offside position.
The linesman was in the view but did not call for offside.
Arsenal players just held their hands up waiting for it to be called.
Silva on the other hand, continue playing and lays the ball into the bath of Jesus and City are two goals up again.
Stupid if we could use to work to describe Arsenal players for the third goal.
It’s basics in the game to play by the whistle.
The referee did not blow the whistle and they should keep playing and mark especially in their own box.
They were all standing at the place and was punished by City who understand the rules of the game.
At the post match conference, Wenger was fumed with the offside decision and claimed that his team have every chance of level the game if it weren’t for the third goal.
He also went on to call Sterling a very smart diver that wins City the penalty.
Same old Wenger, same old Arsenal.
Whenever they play against the big teams, it’s expected that the Gunners will lose and most of the time get schooled.
City was not the first one this season. Liverpool has already taught Arsenal a 4-0 lesson in Anfield last August.
They just never learn.
With players looking to leave and not playing your best striker, goalscorer in your starting lineup, it’s a mess at the moment.
As for now, who can stop the high flying City and will they really go through the league season unbeaten?
