John Terry Chelsea Celebration

John Terry ploy his farewell, Arsenal lost Champions League spot and all the round up in the final day of EPL 16/17

John Terry still has one last trick for his final game for the Blues in Stamford Bridge.

He described his plan to his manager Conte and got the approval and even Sunderland players lend a hand.

How?

The skipper ploy his own substitution on the 26th minute of the game which is the same number he is wearing for the club.

Cunning but well deserved for the long serving skipper who has won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and the Champions League all in Chelsea alone.

He could still be in the squad to face Arsenal in the FA Cup final but chances are low in him starting the match but he would gladly take the winners medal.

The fight for Champions League Spot

arsenal lose out 4th place to Liverpool

On the final day of the season, Liverpool were 4th and Arsenal were 5th with 1 point behind the Merseyside team and Arsenal needed Liverpool to slip up to have  any chance to grab the Champions League spot.

Arsenal won their final game 3-1 against Everton but still lost the 4th spot after Liverpool on the other hand won their final game 3-0 against Middlesbrough to keep them 1 point ahead of the Gunners.

With Arsenal heading to Europa League next season, it will be interesting to see if Alexis Sanchez will be staying as an Arsenal player.

Liverpool is finally back into the prestigious Champions League competition and their effort pays off after Klopp arrival last season. His target for the club is to get them back into the biggest club competition and he finally succeeds after two tries.

3rd spot went to City as they thrased Watford 5-0 on the final day while their rival United won their final game too with 2-0 where majority of the staring lineup are reserve players due to their quest for Europa League title.

2016/17 Summary

Chelsea title celebrations

Chelsea is by far, the best team in England this season. Tough start of the season but once the changes has been made by Conte, they did not look back ever since and are very consistent through out the season.

Kante who is the heart of the midfield this season, has got to be the signing of the season as he also won the PFA and Writer Association Player of Year award. His contribution is second to none.

Costa and Hazard found their groove again and if Costa decided to stay at Chelsea next season, they would make other Europe’s defense goes running in Champions League next season.

Tottenham has been the most improved team of the season based on their style of play. Unbeaten at home and their striker, Harry Kane has won the golden boot for two seasons in a row now.

If they can bring this momentum towards next season, they could really fight for the title.

Other top clubs like City, Liverpool and Arsenal were below bar this season.

Their performances and results were not consistent and does not win games that matter and slips up when they ought to win.

The title race were too easy and Chelsea just cruise all the way to the finish line without any pressure really.

Newcastle, managed by Rafa Benitez will be promoted to the Premier League next season and based on their performance this season, they could the team to look out for.

Hopefully next season’s title race will be more intriguing and exciting and of course more drama!
