Lukaku double in Old Trafford Debut

Big money signing Lukaku prove his worth at the Theatre Of Dreams.

Pogba said he made alot of effort in bringing Lukaku to Old Trafford.

Dinner, long chat eventually persuade the big Belgium to move to United.

A well worth effort Paul!

Man United start their Premier League fixture with West Ham last night being the last match of the opening week.

It’s a pretty one sided game based on stats even before the game kicks off.

United has the most opening wins in Premier League history while West Ham turned out to have the most opening fixture loss in the history.

First clear chances fall to the home side after United did a quick free kick on to Juan Mata who met the out coming Joe Hart.

The ball eventually deflected back to the Spaniard who squares the ball back into the penalty area with Joe Hart not in goal.

Lukaku was there to meet the ball but was scrambled by two West Ham defenders before clearing out of danger.

Later on, the combination play between Mata and Lukaku nearly comes to work yet again.

Pogba did well in keeping control of the possession before lobbing a ball behind the defenders with Mata running in behind.

Again, he tries to square it back to Lukaku who only has empty net to look at but West Ham defender Ogbonna just stretch out in front of the striker to clear the line.

Else, Lukaku would have an easy tap in for his 1st Old Trafford goal.

United score their first goal on a counter attack.

West Ham lost possession in United defensive third with Rashford picks up the ball on his half and run straight up the field.

He puts in a delightful through ball to the overlapping Lukaku who slots the ball inside off the near post and into the net.

Lukaku first goal

1-0 United!

Not an easy finish though as the angle is quite tight but the Belgian still manage to put on a good finish.

West Ham bought three Premier experience players to boost the squat in Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta and Marko Arnautovic.

Arnautovic tried to bring his team back into the game after he did so well in getting the ball to start the attack just before the end of first half.

The great pass of play eventually fall to midfielder Edimilson Fernandes who have plenty to aim at the edge of the area.

The midfielder rifled a shot straight to De Gea who punched it out for safety.

The second half was way better by United.

Pogba muscled away Mark Noble and delivers a perfect through ball to Rashford who pulls away from his markers with such pace that even Thierry Henry would be proud of.

His effort was also certainly Henry-like after trying to curl the ball into the far corner just like the legend but his shot was off target.

Lukaku then added his second of the match with a power header after a free kick rewarded to United taken by Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

lukaku second goal

Conincidence maybe? Lacazette and Salah who is also a big money signing by Arsenal and Liverpool respectively also scored with a header in their Premier League debut.

While the Belgian is having a great debut in Old Trafford, it’s not the same story though for returning Javier Hernandez who has a evening to forget.

Arnautovic his strike partner did his best though and nearly pulls one back after his looping header hit off the crossbar.

Lukaku nearly got his hat trick after wonderful word by Rashford and Mkhitaryan providing him the opportunity.

His right foot shot looks set to go across the net but was blocked by Zabaleta’s timed sliding tackle.

Rashford yet again terrorized West Ham defense and giving them nightmares.

This time he drizzled past two defenders before cutting in and release a wonderful side foot curler.

His shot unfortunately came of the bottom post.

Marcus Rashford will definitely be the man of the match if he converts all the chances he had.

He had a great influence in the game last night.

Daley Blind nearly makes it 3-0 after his volley bounced off the floor and just scraped through the roof of the net.

Martial came on for the well deserved Rashford with 10 minutes left to play and make an impact straight away.

Mkhitaryan again mastermind the attack and provide a well timed past to Martial who was standing on the defensive line.

A little late and it would be an offside.

Anthony Martial makes it three

Only Joe Hart to beat and Martial make no mistake by slotting it low and hard.

The game has gone to United all the way but still one thing is missing after a great team performance.

And that is Pogboom!!

His pal Lukaku already got two goals in the game and he just has to deliver the final product.

The midfielder picks up the ball in the middle of pitch and runs at West Ham defense.

No pressure from any defense thus he tried a low long range effort which surprised Joe Hart.

Could have done better though the England goalkeeper but not taking anything away from the French playmaker.

Lukaku was certainly happy for his pal for getting in the score sheets as well.pogba and lukaku

A well deserved and convincing win by United who is now top of the table after a 4 goals route.

New signing Matic is definitely the unsung hero of the game after his calm and collected performance did well in defending his back four.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte must have regret his decision in selling the defensive midfielder even more after losing out 3-2 to Burnley in their opening fixture at Stamford Bridge.
