United to face Ajax in the finals but are without defender Bailly after red card

Mourinho’s Manchester United nearly lost control of their own destiny and could have been missed out for the finals if not for the lucky angel smiling upon them.

The manager mentioned previously that he would sacrifice for top 4 finish in the league as they would concentrate entirely to win the Europa League where the winner of the cup will be granted passage to the UEFA Champions League next season.

United had a goal advantage this return leg thanks to Rashford’s brilliant free kick in Celta during the first leg.

Celta Vigo looks totally a different team from their first leg as they were more composed and more dominant this match as they have more clear chances and holds 67% of the possession at the end of the game.

Former Liverpool man, Iago Aspas tried to curl one in as early as 3rd minute to bring his team back into the tie. Romero was alert and tip the shot behind for the corner.

10 minutes in, Pogba shows a glimpse of why he is the most expensive player in the world when he juggles the ball in the middle of the field around two markers. He went on to open up the defense with a pass to Rashford but was tackled off by Celta defender.

Marcus Rashford turns provider in the 17 minute when he finds Fellaini in the far post from the left. Fellaini, who is criticize throughout the season for his contribution to the team, scores with a header and put his team 2-0 up in aggregate. The tie looks to be done and dusted. That is what they thought.

Mkhitaryan found himself a good opportunity to finish the game off after the restart but his ambitious volley went way off target.

It was pretty even for both side till half time where both teams tried to shoot on goal but not really troubling the opposite goalkeepers but Celta Vigo were gaining more confidence going into the break.

Second half went the same as the first one when Sergio Romero is needed to make a vital save straight from the start to prevent a golden scoring opportunity.

United not looking to sit back as Mkhitaryan had a shot a goal from long range but Celta goalkeeper, Sergio Alvarez was up for it.

Celta attacking players starts to pick up their paces as Aspas goes for a long range effort and Guidetti present with a great chance on the 58th minute but he volleys it wide inside the box.

Marcus Rashford founda golden one-on-one opportunity on the 63rd minute but manage to force out a great save from Alvarez.

Fellaini looking to add to his goal tally but fell short as well. Celta has their keeper to thank for keeping the tie alive.

15 minutes from time, John Guidetti miss a glorious chance after heading the ball wide while not being marked in the box. He could easily open the tie up if he scores.

Celta efforts and not giving up attitude were rewarded when Celta defender, Facundo Roncaglia redirects the ball into the goal to make a grand slam finish.

Celta Vigo need one more goal to even the aggregate and to win on away goal rules. Red devils fans are looking anxiously at the time hoping for the game to end as quickly as possible.

Emotions sure do piled up on players and it certainly does to Eric Bailly as was sent off for slapping Guidetti but Celta goalscorer Roncaglia were sent off as well due to involvement.

United are without Bailly for the final. He performed well in the game but unfortunately he is going to be missed.

6 minutes of extra time given due to the commotion during the incident.

On the last minute of the extra time, John Guidetti missed an open goal chance which concludes the last kick and end of the match. If he would have scored, Celta would go to the final. They have put on a brave performance on the second leg.

Europa League is the only trophy missing in United trophy cabinet. Will Mourinho and his boys bring it home to add on the capture of League Cup not long ago.
