rooney quits englandWayne Rooney: “It is a good time to bow out”

Everton striker Wayne Rooney shocked all England fans yesterday after announcing that he will retire from international duty.

This comes as a surprise as one of the reasons he moved back to Everton is to perform well after he express his desire to play for England in the World Cup in Russia next summer.

Wayne is set to be recalled in next England match after Gareth Southgate called Rooney personally to tell him that he is interested to call him up back to the first team.

In hearing that, Rooney express his gratitude towards the England manager.

“I have discussed with my family, Everton manager (Ronald Koeman) and people close to me” the forward said.

He say it’s hard to reject Soutgate call up but it’s the right thing to do because he wants to focus on his Everton career after making a great start so far in his second spell for the club.

Everton is about the play their 2nd leg Europa League playoff to earn a group stage opportunity in the tournament and after all the players the club brought in this summer, Rooney is confident they can make something out of it.

Forme England teammates, David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and John Terry are few of many who pours tribute to the England all time goalscorer who nets in 53 goals in 119 caps for the country.

When this young kid aged 17 walked into this first game for his country it was like he had been playing for England for years.. I had the pleasure of captaining a side that had Wayne Rooney in it because as a captain you want players that have passion , desire and a winning mentality and that’s what Wayne was all about which is why he went on to break records for club and country … Personally I’m sad to see him step away from playing for England because one of the reasons our fans love him so much is how much wearing the three lions means to him and that will be missed … Wayne was a special talent , is a special talent and will continue to be that special talent that we all love… 119 OUT @waynerooney @england @manchesterunited
