tottenham final game at white hart lane

Tottenham says goodbye to White Hart Lane

What a fitting finale with a great performance from Tottenham to say farewell to their beloved stadium before moving to a better built stadium.

The win gave Spurs their best finish in the Premier League ever, second place behind the newly crowned champion Chelsea.

Pochettino’s team are also unbeaten in all of the home games in the league this season follow by 14 winning streak at the Lane. A very impressive record.

A win is the only result Tottenham wants to sign off with a bang. There is no disappointment indeed.

Eriksen plays the corner short back to Ben Davies on the 5 minute. The latter whips in a delightful cross into the box and up jumps Victor Wanyama to kick off an early celebration.

Wayne Rooney are to be blame as he lets Wanyama off the hook and jumps in behind him to head home for Spurs.

Man United tries to response and come close to equalizing in the 17th minute when Martial run in behind Spurs defense on the left from Rooney’s pass.

The french player tries to slot into the far post corner with his trademark finish that has been compare to the legend, Thierry Henry.

The shot whisker past the diving Lloris Hugo and went wide of the left post.

Son Heung Min went through United defends moments later after the ball richochet few United players and with only the keeper to beat, the striker shot straight ahead to De Gea without any composure.

Spurs very own local lad, almost score for his beloved childhood club but his header hit the top crossbar. De Gea comes out to get the ball but almost count as a costly mistake.

Half an hour in, Dele Alli force a great stop from De Gea from a powerful shot and the keeper make another great save from Kane’s effort.

The keeper is the only thing stands behind Spurs and their second goal until the half time break.

Harry Kane wish to score a goal at the Lane comes true when he flicks Eriksen’s free kick into the goal. Just meant to be him like a fairy tale story. Spurs hero in his own kingdom.

Few efforts tried after that by both teams from Kane, Son, Lingaard, and Martial but nothing special to trouble the goalkeepers.

20 minutes from time, United get their break from their captain, Wayne Rooney.

Rooney taps in from close range after fine run from the left by Martial to set it up for him.

His effort might have deflected off Vertonghen during the replay.

Alli came close on the 83rd minute after his shot was headed off the line by Phil Jones.

That is all there is to it till the final whistle and cheer are heard all over the stadium to celebrate the finale.
